Beef bliss

Not sure how to cook that cut of meat whose name you have never heard of before? I came across a handy site today courtesy of Google: Ask The Meatman! They sell meat cooking supplies, but they also describe the different cuts and how to cook them. Try their handy search engine. I had no idea what to do with the "eye of round" in my freezer (from my biomom, who raises grass fed beef), but now I know that I can roast it after searing, but if I save part of it before cooking, I can use it for stir fry. Who knew?

Back

Incidentally, Mary and I returned Saturday from a two week journey to Burning Man and back. Our time on the playa was fun, and we kept the rubber side of the Airstream down the whole way. Details are forthcoming.

Today out my window at work

Among the stranger promotions that I have seen on Michigan Avenue at the river are six women wearing white and sporting Ellen Degeneresqe wigs, riding identical mopeds behind a truck advertising her show.

It got strange looks from people, but it still pales in comparison to the promotion of all promotions, which I was honored to witness several years ago: 40 or 50 guys, all dressed in Colonel Sanders costumes, swarming the sidewalk and handing out coupons for some new variety of chicken that KFC was offering at the time. It still gets a chuckle out of me when I think of it.
