Burlesque and more burlesque

On July 16, Mary and I attended the latest of the Sissy Butch Brothers' periodic Gurlesque Burlesque shows. Wow. The review is posted in the Guide.

Saturday night, the 24th, we stayed up late for this month's Belmont Burlesque, and we were glad we did. The Belmont Bombshells along with Jack Midnight, Uncle Al and Tomas delivered another night of fun that ranged from clever and intellectual to downright crude, with pleny of sexiness thrown into the mix. Reviews of past shows are also in the Guide.

More fun w/politics

I just gave a hundred bucks to Christine Cegelis, a Democrat running against my unfavoritist congressman, Henry Hyde (R-IL 6th). Hyde's district is right next to mine, and he briefly represented me before redistricting put me into Jan Schakowsky (D-IL 9th) territory. Hyde makes my blood boil for a number of reasons, most notably his hypocritical and politically motivated leadership of the impeachment of President Clinton, not to mention his consistent sneaky attempts to impede abortion. Hypocritical? His nickname is "Homewrecker Hyde." Politically motivated? If it was really about Clinton lying, then why isn't Hyde trying to impeach Bush for lying to us about Iraq?

If Christine's own words don't stir you to support her, read what citygirl wrote about the race on dailykos.

Bastille Day

Today would have been my third anniversary. The emotions around this are not nearly as intense as in past years, especially now that I am with somebody again, but I have to acknowledge them and give myself a break for not feeling overly motivated today.

Summer

I'm still here...just living summer, not necessarily in front of the computer. Since my last post, I have, with help from Mary, fixed plumbing leaks and electrical wiring in Betty the Airstream, begun de-cluttering my house, scraped and painted most of the picket fence, spent a weekend in Indy with friends James and Ingrid, and eaten lots of bacon.

So what are you doing reading this drivel? Go outside, and enjoy the weather!
